SARTORIA MODOLO
Sartoria Modolo was founded in 1962 in Orani, a village in the heart of Sardinia, in the province of Nuoro. Its founder, Paolo Modolo, nurtured his passion for tailoring from a young age when he began his zero-pay apprenticeship in local tailor shops. As he often recounted:We started working at 8 AM and wouldn''''t return home before 10 PM. Later, he worked in the nearby talc mine while continuing to pursue tailoring, which he never abandoned. At the age of 49, after leaving the mine, he decided to fully dedicate himself to tailoring with his son and nephew. That’s when he had the idea to revitalize a sector that, in the meantime, had to compete with mass production. This marked the beginning of a new challenge for him, where innovation and artistic creativity merged with tailoring craftsmanship and tradition. Over the years, Paolo Modolo became known as the King of Velvet because his workshop specialized in (and still produces) garments made primarily of velvet. This traditional fabric is an essential component of the classic Sardinian shepherd’s attire, which is crafted entirely from this material.

Our tailoring shop offers a wide range of custom-made garments, including:
Jackets: Single-breasted with two or more buttons, featuring distinctive details such as a non-adjustable martingale and flap pockets with buttons.
Vests: Single-breasted without lapels, with five buttons and two small pockets.
Trousers: Traditional velvet trousers incorporating the details of the Sardinian shepherd style, equestrian trousers, or a modern denim version introduced in 2017.
Skirts: Custom-made with great attention to fabric selection and details, such as pockets, side or front slits.
Shirts: Made of pure silk or poplin, most featuring a Mandarin collar, inspired by the traditional Sardinian attire, with a focus on tailored details like French seams.
